Tough to beat the OEM Yuasa for reliability. The 1190 has a parasitic draw which tends to shorten the life of batteries if you don't keep them on a tender when storing them. #3. SURFINASPHALT and windblown101 like this.
Apr 9, 2014. Oddometer: 96. I have the same issue with my 1190 - red coolant in the system and I have purchased The recommended M5 which is blue. I spoke to KTM UK who said the red coolant is Motorex M3, and the M5 is OK to use with the M3. I also spoke to a couple of dealers who said the same. The 890 Adventure R utilizes KTMā€™s updated LC8c 889cc DOHC parallel-twin engine thatā€™s also seen in the impressive 890 Duke R. On the Cycle World dyno, the 890 produced 86.5 hp at 8,300 rpm
1. Location. Peak District. Apr 11, 2015. #1. just started the bike up and the display panel showed "GENERAL FAILURE" on my 2014 1190 Adv (just 1450 miles one the clock). I called the KTM dealer who suggestd that had Seen this before when the battery was running low. To be fair I charged the bike up for an hour and warning disappeared.
I started buying KTMā€™s in 2014 when I bought a 1190 Adv R . and have owned over the years a 2016 Super Adventure T, 2019 790 Adventure R, a 2020 Super Adventure S , a 2011 1190 RC8R and a 2022 Super Duke EVO. I have never had an major issueā€™s with any of them totaling almost 100,000 miles between all of them. I love these bikes.
Seattle I've been thinking about buying a used 1190 but have been a bit hesitant for a couple of reasons. Am I getting the wrong impression looking at all of the issues in the forums online? I have read about the air filter issues and resulting engines that needed a rebuild in the early model years. Spread the love. Reliability & build quality Itā€™s not a great story when you start delving into the reliability of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Two owners report serious enough problems to award it a one-star review. There doesnā€™t seem to be a prevailing single issue as much as several, concerning both electrical and mechanical parts. 5VGu.
